Red Faction: Guerrilla is the third game in the Red Faction series developed by Volition Inc. and published by THQ. It was released on June 2, 2009 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and on September 15, 2009 for Microsoft Windows.
The Re-Mars-tered edition was released on July 3, 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows, with a Nintendo Switch release the following year on July 2, 2019.
Gameplay
Red Faction: Guerrilla is a 3rd person, open-world action shooter set on Mars, set 50 years after the events of the original Red Faction (the year 2125). Players take the role of an insurgent fighter named Alec Mason with the newly re-established Red Faction movement as they battle for liberation from the oppressive Earth Defense Force (EDF - allies in the first Red Faction). Throughout their fight for freedom, players carve their own path, wreaking havoc across the vast, open-world environment of Mars, from the desolate mining outpost of Parker to the gleaming EDF capital city of Eos to the Earth-like region known as Oasis.
Utilizing improvised weapons, explosives and re-purposed mining equipment and vehicles, Red Faction: Guerrilla allows players to tear through fully destructible environments in an unforgiving Martian landscape swarming with EDF forces, Red Faction resistance fighters, and the downtrodden settlers caught in the cross-fire. Red Faction: Guerrilla also features a robust multiplayer component, including several modes focused on destruction-based gameplay.
Multiplayer
Red Faction: Guerrilla features online multiplayer. It utilizes a matchmaking system similar to that of the Halo series. The current game modes include Demolition, Anarchy, Siege, Capture The Flag, and Team Anarchy. Before Siege and Demolition can be played, the player must achieve a certain rank.
The PC version of Red Faction: Guerrilla will not feature dedicated servers, instead clients will have to host "listen" servers.
Wrecking Crew

Wrecking Crew is a hot-seat multiplayer game of destruction unique to Red Faction: Guerrilla. This mode is offered as essentially single player full screen gaming, with the option to specify players and accumulate scores while taking turns playing the game.

Plot
The game's story begins with the protagonist, Alec Mason, landing on Mars in the year 2125 as a mining engineer. Alec meets with his brother, Dan Mason, who is killed by the Earth Defense Force (EDF) soon after. Hugo Davies, the commander of the Red Faction, recruits Alec to fight alongside other guerrillas to assist in the goal of liberating all six sectors and overthrow the oppressive EDF.
Following Alec's recruitment, the EDF are pushed out of the Parker sector through his efforts to weaken their control and minimize their surveillance abilities. After the Red Faction's move into the Dust sector, Alec is introduced to the Marauders and discovers their hideout, containing the Nano Forge, a device sought after by the commander of the Hydra, Admiral Kobel, and the commander of the EDF, General Roth. The EDF respond to this discovery by launching an artillery attack on Dust to cover their withdrawal from the sector, which Alec circumvents by saving essential personnel and resources.

Red Faction: Guerrilla has been released for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. The PC version was released on September 15, 2009 (North America) and September 18, 2009 (International). Cross-platform multiplayer will not be available. The PC version of Red Faction: Guerrilla is available for purchase through Valve's Steam content distribution system[1], as well as via retail. On 9 July 2009, THQ Inc. announced that the "Raptr" client will be bundled with Red Faction: Guerrilla along with Games for Windows Live and Steam (if you buy the game via Steam). [2]

Sequels
Formally announced on GameTrailers TV on June 4, 2010, Red Faction: Armageddon stars Alec Mason and Samanya's grandson, Darius Mason, and takes place 50 years after the events of Guerilla. A cataclysmic event of Mars' surface has forced those above to begin life anew in the mines below. A swarm of surface-dwelling creatures have invaded the underground mine network and threaten the lives of those who live there.
