The concept of canon as it relates to the Red Faction universe is explained on this page.

Across the wiki, you may notice some information is provided with a (VC) or (CC) listed after it. These abbreviations are used to differentiate between elements considered Volition Canon and elements considered Community Canon.

Volition Canon (VC)

Volition Canon, denoted by (VC), refers to aspects of the Red Faction universe established by the official games, or through officially-release supplemental materials.

Community Canon (CC)

Community Canon, denoted by (CC), refers to aspects of the Red Faction universe that the community has decided to consider Canon. As a general principle, Community Canon should only be created to "fill in gaps" left by Volition Canon, and expand the universe beyond what was established in Volition Canon. Unless explicitly indicated otherwise, anything considered Volition Canon is also considered Community Canon.

Community Canon should conflict with Volition Canon only where a contradiction exists within established Volition Canon. In this case, the problematic Volition Canon is removed from the body of lore considered Community Canon. Community Canon should contain no contradictions.

Continuities

The following is a breakdown of the different community-recognized continuities within the realm of Red Faction series canon.
