The Red Faction is the rebel group which you are a part of in Red Faction and Red Faction: Guerrilla. The Red Faction is a workers union established by the working class of Mars under the opression of the Ultor Corps. and currently serves as as a freedom fighting guerrilla group agaisnt the opression of the Earth Defense Force.
Red Faction
The Red Faction was first formed in 2075 after Eos and a few other miner groups began to make preparations for the revolt against Ultor. Over the next few years the group secretly gained momentum during which time it was known to Ultor guards as a team for the 'miner olympics'. By 2078 the Red Faction revealed itself as rebel group. Ultor then hired Masako and her mercenaries to put an end to the revolution. Parker fought his way through the mines and called for assistance from the Earth Defense Force. Once the EDF had eliminated all remaining Ultor guards and mercenaries, Mars was under Earth control.

After the destruction of The Hydra in 2128, the Red Faction found itself the sole government of Mars, and possibly the one organisation that is equal to the EDF, not in technology, but in Guerrilla warfare.
