The Sledgehammer is the player's default weapon and main tool of destruction within the game.

Variants

In the Steam Edition version of the game, the Sledgehammer's variants are only usable in multiplayer, with the Stonebreaker, Shattermaster and Facecrusher being purchasable cosmetic upgrades in singleplayer. Additionally, the Gold Breaker variant could be unlocked in singleplayer by typing the HARDHITTER cheat code in the game's "Extras" menu. In the Re-Mars-tered version of the game, all multiplayer variants were added to singleplayer as purchasable upgrades.

The Marauder/Skulldigger variant is the player's default sledgehammer in the Demons of the Badlands DLC pack. The Pickaxe variant can also be found in the DLC as a weapon used by Marauder squads.
