Red Faction version 1.3 was a third-party, community made update. It was not an offical version released by Volition like 1.1 and 1.2. Version 1.3 was coded by SubZ, TrotSkie, and harmLE$$.

A version 1.3 server fading colour in the serverlist.

Purpose

Version 1.3 was created to stop cheating. It removed the green team glitch, used extra VPP checks to stop table mods from working, and used modified class names to prevent MYTH attaching to the process.

Functionality

Version 1.3 allowed users to join 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3 servers. 1.3 servers appeared with fading colours in the serverlist.

Effectiveness

While stopping the petty table mods most cheaters used, version 1.3 was unable to stop triggerbots or Click-A-Lot.

Influence

For some reason, a decent percentage of the community thought that there was a hidden backdoor in 1.3. There was no such backdoor. The failure of 1.3 has, to a slight degree, influenced opinions about Pure Faction.
