Remote Charges will stick to any surface and are great for setting traps. You can set multiple charges and they’ll explode in the order placed once you hit the detonator. Don’t forget where each one was placed, because standing near one when it goes off will end your fun real quick! Try attaching these to multiple stress points for larger amounts of destruction. | Remote Charges will stick to any surface and are great for setting traps. Weapon Of The Week is a feature which was originally introduced in Red Faction (Weapon Of The Week) and has been brought back to life in Red Faction: Guerrilla
March 12 2009
Sniper Rifle
If you need to kill someone at long range, the EDF’s Sniper Rifle will get the job done. With increased zoom on the sights, you can stay farther back while still shooting accurately. The drones deploy a deadly cadre of snipers, so be careful.
- Primary Attack: Single shot.
- Special Function: Optical zoom.
- Pros: Long range, high physical damage.
- Cons: Slow re-fire rate, small clip size.
- Recommendation: Find a nice hiding place on an elevated mound and observe the horizon for prey. Best used from long range to take out any patrolling guards before storming in to complete a mission.
March 5 2009
Arc-Welder
The Arc Welder is useful in taking out enemies at short range. It lets out an electrical burst that can jump to multiple targets, stunning them and eventually killing them. It’ll also electrocute anyone inside a vehicle, which makes attacks on convoys a lot easier. You’ll have to be close to use this.
- Primary Attack: Fire continuous electric arc(s).
- Secondary Attack: Upward bash.
- Pros: Will attack a driver inside of a vehicle, making for easy extraction.
- Cons: Short range, no destruction from arc(s).
- Recommendation: Use this to clear a room out quickly of enemies or attack any enemies in your path. Combine with a Jetpack in Multiplayer for a true show of fireworks in the sky and a deadly attack from above.

Sledgehammer
This is your best friend. The sledgehammer is a versatile, non-threatening weapon that can smash through just about anything - and no ammo needed. Its silent, powerful attack makes it ideal for thinning EDF ranks without raising the alarm.
- Primary Attack: Sideways swing
- Secondary Attack: Overhead swing
- Pros: You have a sledgehammer, they have guns...
- Cons: You have a sledgehammer, they have guns...
- Recommendation: The EDF doesn’t react immediately when you have this weapon out, so it can be used for silent (albeit messy) kills. Need a backdoor for an escape? Make a new one...

Proximity Mine
Sticking a Remote Charge on enemies or vehicles can be difficult, so the guerrillas have rigged up some Proximity Mines for you. These are more sensitive, so they’ll have to be placed directly on the ground. Be careful where you place them, the proximity sensor has a hard time judging friends and foes.
- Primary Attack: Place charge
- Secondary Attack: Mine swing
- Pros: Large blast radius
- Cons: Must be placed precisely and well hidden – if the enemy spots them, they can be blown up with a few bullets.
- Recommendation: Set these around doorways of buildings, or openings in walls. Try placing a few around the control points in Damage Control as a nice surprise to the opposing team. Also, these are great for setting traps as you draw your enemies toward you during a firefight.
February 12 2009
Remote Mining Charge
Remote Charges will stick to any surface and are great for setting traps. You can set multiple charges and they’ll explode in the order placed once you hit the detonator. Don’t forget where each one was placed, because standing near one when it goes off will end your fun real quick! Try attaching these to multiple stress points for larger amounts of destruction.
- Primary Attack: Throw charge
- Secondary Attack: Detonate charge
- Pros: Large amount of destruction for a handheld device.
- Cons: Charges must be attached to an object before they can be detonated.
- Recommendation: These allow a player to destroy single or multiple objects at the same time, as well as set some devious traps. Remember to try sticking a few of these to your friends in Multiplayer for a few laughs. If you happen to run out of charges, you will access a new melee attack in the form of a punch.
February 5 2009
Pistol
Pistols are the basic EDF sidearm. They’re small and accurate, though only against a single target. Pistols don’t have the stopping power of some of the heavier EDF weapons, but they’ll still do the job. Look for this weapon in multiplayer as a quick secondary attack weapon.
- Primary Attack: Fire single round.
- Melee Attack: Pistol Whip.
- Pros: Fast refire.
- Cons: One of the weakest weapons in terms of firepower.
- Recommendation: Kill enemies from close range, taking care to aim for the head. A few well placed shots can help you to grab a more powerful weapon. Combine with the Firepower backpack in Multiplayer for a very effective combination.
January 29 2009
Grinder
The Grinder fires razor discs at high velocity. Another weapon created by the Red Faction from salvaged parts, the motor needs to charge briefly before it’ll shoot, so take that into account. The disks are deadly against EDF soldiers or individual combatants in multiplayer, but won’t cause much damage to structures, vehicles, or objects.
- Primary Attack: Hold to rev up a razor disc.
- Melee Attack: Upward Bash.
- Pros: One-shot kills to the head, great at short to medium range.
- Cons: Slow fire rate, due to the required time to rev the blades up to speed.
- Recommendation: An enemy is charging towards you with an Assault Rifle or similar weapon, and you need to take them down quickly. Pull out the Grinder, aim for the head, and hope the time you have to get off one precise shot is enough. The Grinder is equally effective at knocking jet-packing enemies out of the air.

Thermobaric Rocket Launcher
The original launcher design has been vastly improved with the Thermobaric Rocket Launcher. The range is decreased, but you can detonate the rockets in mid-air and the explosion is huge. It should help bring down large targets with ease.
- Primary Attack: Fire rocket
- Special Attack: Detonate in mid-air
- Pros: Huge amount of destruction
- Cons: Very slow reloads
- Recommendation: Aim this at anything and wave goodbye, but make sure not to stand too close. This weapon can also change the tide of a Multiplayer match in a few seconds.

Rocket Launcher
The Red Faction have modified this equipment to launch rocket-propelled grenades. It’ll be useful against vehicles, tanks, aircraft, and the occasional building. Just make sure there’s plenty of distance between you and your target when you pull the trigger.
- Primary Attack: Fire Rocket
- Melee Attack: Upward Bash
- Pros: Large amount of destruction for a quick reloading weapon
- Cons: Slow moving projectile
- Recommendation: Get a few enemies to run into a building and then blow it to smithereens. Extremely effective against small to medium sized structures and vehicles.
November 20 2008
Enforcer
The Enforcer uses heat-seeking ammo for superior accuracy. Shoot in the general direction of an enemy and the bullets will find them. The trade-off is in decreased damage, since some of the power behind the bullet is lost while it adjusts course.
- Primary Attack: Automatic Fire
- Melee Attack: Sideways Bash
- Pros: Heat-seeking projectile that maneuvers in air towards a target.
- Cons: Damage dealt is less than the standard Assault Rifle.
- Recommendation: Got a few pesky enemies trying to run away from you? Fire a few bullets in their general direction and let the bullets get tired instead of you.
November 13 2008
Assault Rifle
The Assault Rifle is designed to offer all the benefits of a full-length rifle in a compact design. It is capable of firing fully automatic fire and able to take down opponents quickly and effectively. This is the standard weapon issued to EDF soldiers.
- Primary Attack: Automatic Fire
- Melee Attack: Sideways Bash
- Pros: Large clip size, fast reloads
- Cons: Low level vehicle damage
- Recommendation: Use this as your standard kill-all weaponry. Aim for the torso and head for maximum damage.
