Capek's Inner Sanctum
Capek's Inner Sanctum is the 11th level/chapter in the Red Faction single player campaign. It consists of three individual maps and begins as Parker walks down a corridor that opens into a large open area with two bridges that lead to a complex. Capek's Inner Sanctum is followed by L12: Grand Canyon.
L11S1: Lab Entrance
Depending on where you finished L10S4, you'll start L11S1 in one of two corridors that each lead to their own bridge. Either bridge leads to the same complex from a different entrance. You'll need to fight some guards if you're on the upper path that continues from behind the rock worm. The lower path from the second rock worm only has one guard.
Once you're inside the complex, you'll face a gauntlet of guards and ceiling mounted turrets before you reach an elevator. Just before the elevator there's a small area on the left that has some health pickups if you need them. Be careful as you open the doors at the end of the corridor as the elevator will automatically start descending as soon as the doors open. When you get to the bottom, you'll exit into a small hallway with two guards before loading into L11S2.
L11S2: Nanotech Lab
L11S2 opens at the end of the small hallway as you open a door into the entryway of the complex. There's an upper level with a grate floor that you can reach later. Straight ahead from the door you enter from is an area with miners, mutants, and reapers in cells. The upper level with the grate floor continues in this area.
To the left from the starting door is where the level progresses into another room with miners and creatures in cells and the upper level with the grate floor. There will be a guard with a shotgun just before the door leading out of this hallway. Exiting this room you'll face a rampway that's closed off with some chain-link fence-type material. This hallway turns 90 degrees to the right where you'll face two guards blocking the next door.
After dispatching these guards you'll enter a room with lots of computer equipment. You won't have to press any buttons or interact with this equipment but you can destroy some of it if you like. To the right from the entrance of this room there's a ramp that leads up to the upper grated floor area mentioned earlier. You can backtrack through this area to open the cell doors if you like but it's not necessary for progression. Going left from the ramp there's a bridge that leads to a small room. This small room has an elevator that descends into a room with a nurse that can fill your health up for you. The upper small room has a full environmental suit if you need it.
From the entrance of this room with the computer equipment, there's a door to the left that leads to progress. It opens into the rampway mentioned earlier guarded by an Executive Guard.
This rampway opens up into a large room with a floor to ceiling room within it. There's a room with computer equipment in this inner room that can be access via a ramp on the left but there are no pickups in this room. There are several guards an Executive Guards in the large room. There's a grated floor around the upper room that has an Executive Guard with grenades on it if you want some.
Across from this inner room there's a door that leads to a small medical area where there's a nurse who can heal you if necessary.
Across from the entrance to the large room there's a door that leads to a small foyer before an elevator that leads to the next stage. This foyer has two guards in it. As the elevator ascends, the game will load into L11S3.
L11S3: Capek's Inner Sanctum
L11S3 opens with the elevator opening into a well lit foyer with two Executive guards blocking your progression. The door behind them opens into a hallway with windows overlooking Capek's Inner Sanctum. This hallway is heavily guarded. As you enter this hallway, shutters will close blocking you from jumping through the windows into the inner area. This hallway above Capek's area curves left towards a door that has a rampway down to the Inner Sanctum. It is possible to get through the windows in this second half of the upper hallway but it is not the intended route.
The door at the end of the upper hallway leads to a rampway down to Capek's area. As soon as you enter that door, there's a guard to the left waiting to ambush you as well as another guard down the rampway. There's a door at the bottom of the ramp that opens into the inner area. This inner area has three executive guards and an assault rifle guard that will attack you. Once you've killed all of these enemies, Capek will drop down from the middle of the room and start shooting you with energy projectiles from his cane. Shortly after Capek drops down, the wall the upper ramp leads to will explode and Eos will appear to help you fight.
Capek's projectiles do a lot of damage so you'll need to be constantly on the move while you shoot him. Despite the earlier cut scene which suggested Capek is invulnerable to gunfire, if you shoot his shield enough it will break. If you're having trouble staying alive during this phase you could use a flamethrower. A bug in the game causes nanoshields to take damage from flamethrowers regardless of your proximity to the target. This is not the intended way to do the fight but it is an option if you're having trouble. When Capek's shield falls, he will fall and take normal damage from weapons.
When you do enough damage to Capek, a cutscene will start where Eos tells you not to kill Capek. After the cutscene Eos will tell you to leave from the way she came in. You should do exactly that. On the other side of the door next to the hole in the wall Eos created there are health, armor, and ammo pickups if you need them. The corridor continues from there and splits into two paths. Both paths curve to the same airlock door. After pressing the button on the exit of the airlock, you'll load into the next area: the Grand Canyon.
