The Gutter is a melee weapon available in Red Faction: Guerrilla.

Description
Developed by the reclusive Marauders, the name says it all. A brutal weapon, its design is reflective of its creators: violent and gruesome. The Marauders have developed a unique fighting style for using it, to compensate for the Gutter’s size and balance.

Recommendation: In close quarters combat, this weapon can become your best friend. With its extended reach and slicing capabilities, the Gutter is a weapon you’ll want to steal from the Marauders as soon as you can. Make sure to begin your swing early, in order to take full advantage of the weapon's reach. It can reach about twice as far as the sludge hammer can reach.

The Nanorifle is one of an unknown amount of weapons that will be available in Red Faction: Guerrilla when it is released.

Description
The Nanorifle shoots matter-eating swarms of nanobots that slowly disintegrate anything they come into contact with, be they structural supports or human beings.
---
The nanites created by the Nano Forge will deconstruct solid matter, like a wall, in seconds. The technology is highly advanced and the EDF wants it, so keep it safe.

Recommendation: Create a new entranceway into a building or take out a vehicle. Also, hit any enemy with a well placed shot to obliterate them. If you shoot right in front of you at a wall it should make a hole big enough to let you through. You may have to crouch to get through. You can destroy a shield that a EDF trooper is useing by shooting the shield with the Nanorifle.

Trivia
Occasionally when using this weapon against EDF troops they scream and trade fearfull shouts along the lines of "what the hell is that!?" A rather sadistic Guerrilla can use this brief moment of terror and shock to their advantage.... but you need to figure that out for your self.

Description
The Proximity Mines are modified mining equipment which the Red Faction uses as weapons against the Earth Defense Force. They can be placed on the ground. They detonate when an ememy comes within a set proximity or when they are damaged.

---

Developed by a group of underground Red Faction researchers and engineers, the Proximity Mine was designed to help entrap and ambush EDF forces. Based upon claymore mine technology, the Proximity Mine detonates a small charge of explosive material which propels a collection of shrapnel at high velocity. The shrapnel explosion is sufficient to take down several enemy personnel or disable a vehicle, but inflicts only minor damage to structures.

Recommendations: Make sure to hide the proximity mines well because the EDF CAN see them if they are in the open and will shoot them. Let's say you're cornered with low health in a building. The EDF are likely to come in to kill you, so you might want to hide a prox. mine next to the door way (if the building is not very damaged) and wait. Or you could want to snipe, but the EDF keep coming up the stairs and trying to kill you. Put a bomb in one of the door ways. Problem solved.
Modified from high-powered angle Grinders, the Grinder's motor spins a serrated disk before it is launched at high velocity.
The Marauders are a mysterious people that appear in Red Faction: Guerrilla.

The Marauders inhabit The Badlands, a sector of Tharsis, Mars. They are hostile toward everyone, happily killing members of both the Earth Defense Force and the Red Faction.

The Marauders are the descendants of Ultor scientists from the Red Faction-era. Mutations from nanite injections administered by Dr. Axel Capek caused them to become very violent. The Marauders worship Capek as a god and have built many shrines dedicated to him and the Ultor Corporation.

Behavior and Culture
Aggression
The Marauders simply refuse to interact with other human beings in any other way than attacking them. There are only two Maruaders that speaks clearly throughout the game, and the rest do not speak beyond grunting and yelling at Alec Mason or each other. Though it wouldn't quite be true to say they are unintelligent, they are certainly not at the same IQ level as their ancestors from fifty years ago.

Occasionally they can, with no prompting from the player, be found attacking EDF soldiers and property, sometimes inadvertently assisting the player. But it's best not to get in their way when they are carrying out these actions, or they will focus all their efforts into eliminating the player first.

Technology
By nature, they are scavengers, salvaging what they can from the inhabitants of Mars that are foolish enough to stray into the Badlands. There are several audio diaries that indicate that the people recording them met their end at the hands of the Marauders. The Marauders weaponry tends to be cobbled together from junk that they find around them, and occasionally from stolen EDF and Red Faction technology. Their vehicles are as wild and feral looking as their creators.

Intellect
The Marauders are generally perceived as mysterious, brutal savages. It is entirely possible, however, that they simply hide their intelligence from the outsiders that they so strongly loathe. At least one of the Marauders has been shown to be highly intelligent. The Marauders technology is also an indicator of their intelligence; while it is largely formed from stolen or scavenged parts, the tech can at times be quite advanced.

Appearance
All the Marauders wear masks or helmets. This is possibly due to being driven out of Capek's labs and living on the surface of Mars before it was properly terraformed, and the masks and helmets are the remains of improvised gas masks and pressure suits. They also serve to enhance the Marauders intimidating appearance. However, under the masks they look like ordinary humans.

Plot Role
In addition to attacking Alec Mason, at points throughout the story the Red Faction will find itself allied with the Marauders to achieve an objective.

<spoiler>Samanya is in fact one of the marauders in exile and the sister of their leader, Vasha. She help Alec Mason and the Red Faction ally with the Marauders permanently near the end of the game to destroy the Hydra. Vasha is killed near the end of the game and the marauders are not given the Nano Forge as promised. This may lead back to cold relations between the marauders and the colonists</spoiler>

Trivia
The Marauders bear more than a passing resemblance to the Tusken Raiders from Star Wars, both in appearance and concept. Like the Tuskens, the Marauders are a mysterious, violent scavengers making their own living in the sandy wilderness. And if you look at the helmets of some Marauders, you will find the eyeholes on some helmets are remarkably like the goggles worn by the Sand People.
Details
Developed by a group of underground Red Faction researchers and engineers, the Thermobaric Rocket Launcher offers long-range destruction capability. The first stage of its dual-stage design uses compressed air to fire the rocket and disperse an explosive fuel cloud. The second stage detonates the rocket, simultaneously causing an explosion and igniting the fuel cloud.

Effectiveness
Although not as accurate as a military grade Rocket Launcher, the Thermobaric Rocket Launcher is effective at a significant range, and the explosive charge is effective against vehicles and structures as well as soft targets.

Usage
Pressing the fire button once launches the rocket. By pressing it again while the rocket is in flight, the rocket can be detonated in mid-air. This tactic is useful for obliterating large areas.
<!--
Based on actual technology, the Thermobaric Rocket uses a two-stage process to obliterate its target. In the first stage, an explosive fuel cloud is released into the air where it expands quickly. The second stage ignites the cloud which creates an explosion that is a miracle to see. This weapon met all of our criteria.

For gameplay we changed the launcher slightly from the standard rocket launcher. With the Thermobaric, you can detonate the rocket in mid-air with a second press of the trigger or just let it run its course to the target. So when you’re struggling against an entire building full of enemies, the Thermobaric Rocket Launcher evens the odds. Find an open window or doorway, or make one with another weapon, then target the hole, and pull the trigger. When the rocket has cleared the outside walls, hit the trigger again, and watch the building blow out like fireworks. Here’s a hint. Be sure to take cover first. Those pieces of debris can kill you too.

Description
The EDF Rail Driver is a specialist-issue firearm in the military's elite infantry divisions, specifically designed for at-range anti-personnel engagement. The Rail Driver is capable of firing a heavy projectile at over 3500 meters per second, and can penetrate several meters of conventional armour or construction material. The Rail Driver features a high-power scope with high-resolution infrared scanner capable of imaging armoured or entrenched heat-signatures.
----
This weapon is what the EDF uses to fight dirty. With X-Ray sights you can see targets through obstacles, and the power of the gun itself allows you to shoot straight through to those targets. There’s no such thing as “cover” with this.

Recommendation: An enemy is taking cover behind a wall of a structure, but you need to take them out. Pull out your rail driver, engage the enhanced thermal vision, and they’ll never know (or see) what hit them. This is good for taking out Gunships, aim for the pilot. Works with tanks and other vehicles as well. It is possible to take cover and eliminate an entire building of EDF without ever exposing yourself to enemy fire.

Notes
Dont try and think you can get a air vehicle by killing the pilot, it explodes instantly.
This is a portable version of the EDF’s lethal Gauss Turret. It fires magnetic projectiles at high speeds using a network of electromagnetic coils. Suffice to say, there’s a lot of heavy science involved. The part you need to be worried about is that it fires quickly and efficiently. This baby has enough power to blow a hole through a wall, so keep your head down.
The EDF Sniper Rifle is a specialist-issue firearm in the military's elite infantry divisions. The rifle fires a 51mm cartridge and has an effective range of up to 1,000 meters. When used appropriately, it is a one shot, one kill weapon. Although highly effective aginst soft targets, it has limited effectiveness against vehicles and structures. The Sniper Rifle features a laser sight and high-power telescopic sight.

It can be found on most multiplayer maps, usually in hard to find areas. A headshot will kill a target straight away but it would take two shots to the body to kill a enemy unless the firepower backpack is being used.
Description
The EDF Singularity Bomb is a specialist-issue anti-material device in the military's elite infantry divisions, specifically designed to inflict space-time compression damage to a target or targets within its highly unpredictable blast radius. Upon detonation, the bomb creates a gravity well, absorbing all light and matter within the blast radius until it collapses, at which point the compressed energy is catastrophically released. The Singularity Bomb's effects are equally effective on soft and hard targets.

This is the most frightening thing you’ll ever see. The Singularity Bomb creates a small gravity well that sucks up anything around it—including buildings. After a few seconds, it explodes and sends all that debris flying. If you use one, set it down and run like hell!

Description
The Enforcer uses heat-seeking ammo for superior accuracy. Shoot in the general direction of an enemy and the bullets will find them. The trade-off is in decreased damage, since some of the power behind the bullet is lost while it adjusts course.

---

The EDF Enforcer is a specialist-issue firearm in the military's elite infantry divisions, specifically designed for at-range anti-personnel engagement. The Enforcer fires a caseless rocket-propelled armour-piercing round with limited heat-seeking capability. The round is highly accurate against soft targets, even at long range.

Recommendation: Got a few pesky enemies trying to run away from you? Fire a few bullets in their general direction and let the bullets get tired instead of you. The weapon does less damage than the Assault Rifle (RFG), but is much more ammo-efficient. This, combined with the fact that more higher level EDF troopers use this weapon, makes it a much more practical choice at the later stages of the game.
Description
The Assault Rifle is designed to offer all the benefits of a full-length rifle in a compact design. It is capable of firing fully automatic fire and able to take down opponents quickly and effectively. This is the standard weapon issued to EDF soldiers.
The EDF Assault Rifle is a standard-issue firearm in the military's infantry divisions, specifically designed for at-range conventional engagement an supplemental fire suppression. The Assault Rifle fires an intermediate-caliber armour-piercing round with good accuracy at medium and long range. It is also the default weapon for most multiplayer games.

Recommendation: Use this as your standard kill-all weaponry. Aim for the torso and head for maximum damage, firing in controlled bursts at longer ranges to maximize accuracy. ==Plot==
Red Faction: Guerrilla is a 3rd person, open-world action shooter set on Mars, 50 years after the events of the original Red Faction (around the year 2128). Players take the role of an insurgent fighter named Alec Mason with the newly re-established Red Faction movement as they battle for liberation from the oppressive Earth Defense Force (EDF - allies in the first Red Faction). Throughout their fight for freedom, players carve their own path, wreaking havoc across the vast, open-world environment of Mars, from the desolate mining outpost of Parker to the gleaming EDF capital city of Eos to the Earth-like region known as Oasis.

Utilizing improvised weapons, explosives and re-purposed mining equipment and vehicles, Red Faction: Guerrilla allows players to tear through fully destructible environments in an unforgiving Martian landscape swarming with EDF forces, Red Faction resistance fighters, and the downtrodden settlers caught in the cross-fire. Red Faction: Guerrilla also features a robust multiplayer component, including several modes focused on destruction-based gameplay.

The game starts out with Alec Mason, the protagonist, landing on Mars and meeting his brother, Dan Mason. As they drive through the streets of Mars, a group of EDF cars nearly crashes into them. This starts Dan talking about all of the horrible things EDF has done to the people of Mars. As he speaks, scenes of cruelty are shown, such as death squads and beatings. When Alec and Dan arrive at their destination, an abandoned lab, they spot a gunship flying in the air. The player is then tasked with destroying the abandoned buildings while their brother keeps a lookout. As the player returns to the vehicle, the gunship returns and orders Dan to surrender, revealing that he was part of Red Faction. When Dan tries to run, the gunship shoots him and Alec. Alec survives but Dan is killed instantly. He returns to Dan's home to find that EDF has raided the house. When the soldiers see Alec they order him to drop his "weapon" (a sledgehammer). Alec, not realizing the severity of what has happened, mocks the soldiers for their fear. The commander of the soldiers orders Alec executed, but before he can be killed Red Faction members start engaging the soldiers. As all of soldiers fall except for the commander, Alec picks up the sledgehammer and kills the leader with it. The leader of the Red Faction walks up to Alec and tells him that whether he likes it or not, he is now part of the rebellion.

Multiplayer
Red Faction: Guerrilla features online multiplayer. it utilizes a matchmaking system similar to that of the Halo series. The current game modes include Demolition, Anarchy, Siege, Capture The Flag, and Team Anarchy. Before Siege and Demolition can be played, the player must achieve a certain rank.

The PC version of Red Faction: Guerrilla will not feature dedicated servers, instead clients will have to host "listen" servers.

In the Dust Safehouse, the radio operator can occasionaly be heard saying "Cut the chatter Freeman,"
This may be a possible reference to Half-Life's protaganist, Gordon Freeman. This is hinted to not only in the name Freeman, but also in that the Gordon of Half-Life does not talk.

Plot

Sequels
No sequels to Red Faction: Guerrilla have been announced as of yet.

Trivia
In the Dust safehouse, the radio operator can occasionaly be heard saying "Cut the chatter Freeman,"
This may be a possible reference to Half-Life's protaganist, Gordon Freeman. This is hinted to not only in the name Freeman, but also in that the Gordon of Half-Life does not talk.
The Jetter is a slender, three-wheeled vehicle used by the Marauders. The Jetter appears to be cobbled together with various wreckage and scrap metal. Two over-sized wheels reside on the far edges of the "wings", while a smaller third wheel mounted behind the driver provides balance. It features a high-powered, shotgun-like weapon mounted on its left fin with a slow firing rate, but respectable stopping power against ground troops.

Red Faction mechanic and driver Jenkins drives a modified Jetter.
This city is named after Eos, the Red Faction leader from the first Red Faction. By the eastern Safehouse if you leave it and follow that road up the north bound road there is two tall indestructible buildings (well I think they are) they are not completely finished look by the Guerrilla Crate on the other side of that road there should be a Light Walker there. It does respawn. If it is'nt there drive up the road for a little while then drive back and the Light Walker should be there.
However, the sector was bombed by the Earth Defense Force in 2128, when Alec Mason, a member of the second Red Faction, stole the Nano Forge from an abandoned Ultor Corporation facility located in The Badlands. Alec Mason managed to help key Red Faction members escape prior to the bombardment. Near the Dust Town Hall there is a cave and inside the cave a Heavy Walker.

Oasis is much farther along in the terraforming process than Parker, so the terrain is covered in a large of grass and there are small plants sprouting up everywhere. The sky is bluer, the clouds whiter, and everything is a little more Earth-like. Due to this, Oasis has a much greater residential population and more wealth. Buildings are larger and their architecture reflects many different cultural styles brought to Mars from Earth such as African and Middle Eastern influences. The cars and trucks are also more advanced and clean. By the Oasis chemical plant there is a Light Walker near by. But be warned this Light Walker does'nt respawn.
Oasis is one of the six regions contained within the martian area of Tharsis.
The Badlands is a sector of Tharsis, Mars. The area, described as "where terraforming went wrong", is a wasteland of jagged rocks and dead settlements.

The Badlands are home to the Marauders, descendants of Ultor Scientists from the first Red Faction who appear in large numbers at night. Ruins of Ultor buildings and mines can be found in the area. Deep within The Badlands sit ghosts of the past that aren't willing to go quietly into the night. The Earth Defense Force does not like going out there, but still maintains a substantial presence in the region.

Easter Eggs
A number of Easter eggs can be found in the Badlands, including:

<spoiler>* An old man sitting outside a building near the Mohole, who looks like an aged Parker with a beard and who says a number of statements referring to the first Red Faction game, further implying he is Parker. And in the house that the man is by there is a cache of Singularity Bombs inside.
* Capek's nanotech labs from Red Faction can be found in the Badlands as well as an APC hangar (with a broken down Red Faction-era APC in it) and communications facility. The Nano Forge is found in the communications facility.</spoiler>
* A probe with an Ultor logo bearing a resemblance to the two probes NASA launched in 2004, Spirit and Opportunity, can be found in a gully in the Badlands.

}}
The Earth Defense Force (EDF) is one of the few elements from the first Red Faction that has remained with the series into Red Faction: Guerrilla.

Red Faction
In Red Faction, Parker calls in the EDF to take control of Mars away from Masako's mercenaries and Ultor's guards. The game ends with the EDF broadcast "This facility is now under the command of the Earth Defence Force. Drop your weapons immediately. All armed personnel will be shot on sight."

Red Faction II
In Red Faction II, the nanotechnology developed by Capek was claimed by the EDF. With this advanced level of military technology, the EDF reorganized the Ultor Corporation with a particular focus on enhanced supersoldiers and suitable weaponry.

Red Faction: Guerrilla
At the end of the first Red Faction the Earth Defense Force came in and helped the Red Faction beat Ultor and rid Mars of them. Instead of leaving once the job was done the EDF stayed on Mars and over the 50 years they have gone from being the liberators of Mars to the new oppressors. In fact they are worse than Ultor. The people of Mars do not have any rights, are beaten in the streets by EDF officers, and live in complete misery. Finally having enough of the oppression, once again the miners have called up the name of Red Faction and have started a guerrilla movement against the EDF to push them off the planet and liberate the people. The EDF is the main antagonist in Red Faction: Guerrilla.

After Red Faction: Guerrilla
It is unknown what is to become of the EDF after the events of Red Faction: Guerrilla.
}}

There are only two Maruader that speaks clearly throughout the game, and the rest do not speak beyond grunting and yelling at Alec Mason or each other.

Marauder weaponry tends to be cobbled together from junk that they find around them, and occasionally from stolen EDF and Red Faction technology. Their vehicles are as wild and feral looking as their creators.

Intellect
The Marauders are generally perceived as mysterious, brutal savages. It is entirely possible, however, that they simply hide their intelligence from the outsiders that they so strongly loathe. At least one Marauder has been shown to be highly intelligent. Marauder technology is also an indicator of their intelligence; while it is largely formed from stolen or scavenged parts, the tech can at times be quite advanced.

Appearance
All the Marauders wear masks or helmets. This is possibly due to being driven out of Capek's labs and living on the surface of Mars before it was properly terraformed, and the masks and helmets are the remains of improvised gas masks and pressure suits. They also serve to enhance the Marauder's intimidating appearance. However, under the masks they look like ordinary humans.

Plot Role
In addition to attacking Alec Mason, at points throughout the story the Red Faction will find itself allied with the Marauders to achieve an objective.

<spoiler>Samanya is in fact a marauder in exile and the sister of their leader, Vasha.

The people of Mars do not have any rights, are beaten in the streets by EDF officers, and live in complete misery. Finally having enough of the oppression, once again the miners have called up the name of Red Faction and have started a guerrilla movement against the EDF to push them off the planet and liberate the people.
